Vintage Flight Attendant Uniform by Pradagirl
When I was little, I wanted to be a dolphin trainer at Sea World. I also wanted to be a stunt woman, a professional ice cream taster, a circus clown and during a six-year stretch in Elementary school, I wanted to act in the sitcom Full House (OMG, I know.) I had an agent, took acting lessons and even had a role in a pilot for a television series (which was never picked up). Unfortunately (?), Full House got canceled when I was in the seventh grade and by the time I hit puberty, the idea of throwing pies at people for a living sort of lost it’s appeal.
But as for that strong urge to find a fun, exciting career with a little glam factor? Well, that never left me.
Which is why, I suppose, that I’m now having such a tough time finding a job. Sure, the unemployment rate is high and the competition is fierce, but there are still jobs to be had.
Jobs like secretary, for example (ew). Research assistant (double ew). Or Egg doner (OMG, no).
They’re just all jobs that I’d never want to have. I mean, how could anyone ever expect me to go from teaching tourists the electric slide in a cruise ship disco to itemizing orders for a company that manufactures plastic bags? It’s just not possible…I’ve been spoiled by one two many fun jobs to ever work in a job that wasn’t. Even teaching English in Japan, which was the hardest job I’v had to date, was never boring.
So in an effort to do everything humanly possible to not turn into THAT guy, I’ve decided to drive to Salt Lake City, Utah for a job interview. I can’t tell you what the job is just yet, but if you’ve been following me on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll probably have some idea. Let me just say though, that this job will take me to new heights and will hopefully allow for some opportunities to really spread my wings and soar.
I don’t really know how to make that any more plane.
More details to follow…Promise! : )
Oh wow, I can TOTALLY see you as a flight attendant/air hostess/part of the cabin crew/whatever the polite term is these days. You would be perfect for the job and the job would be perfect for you. Good luck and I hope you get it!
Best of luck to you on the interview!
As for me, I just wanted to be friend with Jodie Sweetin. I had even prepped a letter asking to be her pen pal and hopefully we could exchange family pictures (what?) but never actually sent it for some unknown reason.
OMG, Erin. Me too! Everyone always loved Michelle but Stephanie was my favorite character. I always wanted to write her a fan letter but never did.
But do you kno who I did write and who wrote back? Thora Birch! Do you remember her? She was in movies like Monkey Trouble, Hocus Pocus and Now and Then. When I was 11, I wrote her a letter asking to be her pen pal. (I was like, "My favorite color is purple. What's yours?") She wrote me back (well, maybe it was her manager) and for weeks I was so excited that she wanted to be my friend. I wrote her many letters but she never responded again.
Oh. Well.
Thanks Cy! I hope I get the job, too….
WHAT. Thora Birch mailed you?!? Now and Then was so great (at the time) and I would have been uber-jealous! I'm still kind of jealous, actually.
So…what was her favorite color? I hope you kept the letter!
I think I probably have it somewhere. She said that her favorite color was 'blue-green' and she liked horse-back riding and seafood. Is that weird that I still remember that?
I think that would be a great (and exciting) job for you! I'm jealous!
you're punny.
can't wait to hear how it went.
I'm still waiting for my background check to clear…that's when I'll find out if I have the job or not. It could take a while though…all of this waiting is killing me!
